FINANCIAL ZOOM-IN - phase 1
Target Audience: Junior employees of the zoomlion community.
Goals: The following were the main objectives of the project:
- To educate them on how to properly and effectively manage and maintain their finances.
- To encourage them to open and maintain accounts.
- To educate them on the importance of savings and investments.
- To re-orient their mindset about banking, the fact that the banking system is not only for the corporate world but for everyone.
Situation: From our feasibility study we found out the income levels of these workers was low and most of them had financial challenges.Most earning 50-60 GH cedis and 82% had low level of financial literacy, especially in saving and investments.
How we went about the solution: We partnered with AMALBANK to embark on a project to educate junior employees of zoomlion community.Our project sites were the A.M.A submetros of Larterbiokorshie right down to La.In preparation for the educational project we researched on savings and investment, and on how best the banks could help these workers. We also :
- Totally avoided the use of big financial terms and phrases.
- Communicated in two local dialets namely(Ga & Twi) since this was what the workers were conversant with.
